Interest and areas of expertise
Dr. Joel Brosius has taught in public schools for more than three decades. Joel has researched local college biology and human anatomy and physiology courses and written the curriculum for two advanced/college-level science courses for students at New Oxford High School. He was one of the first teachers in the area to offer science courses via distance learning technology to students at other schools in Adams County.
In November of 2016, Joel successfully defended a doctoral dissertation and earned an Ed.D in educational leadership through Immaculata University. He researched the topic of flipped learning and the impact that the pedagogy had on the cognitive rigor of classroom activities and standardized test results. Joel’s research into flipped learning has allowed him to provide faculty workshops on the implementation of flipped learning in secondary classrooms, as well as participation in a district wide initiative into the integration of technology into classroom instruction.
Joel serves as an adjunct instructor in the Messiah College Graduate Program in Education, as well as at Harrisburg Area Community College.
