Interest and areas of expertise

Carmen Raquel, “Rocky,” Allinger is committed to using instructional design and educational technology to promote accessibility and inclusion for all students, both in K12 and higher education. Her career history includes teaching middle school English, working with ESL and migrant adolescents with the Migrant Education Program, supporting students in developmental writing at HACC, and mentoring faculty in instructional design at Harrisburg Area Community College.

Rocky Allinger now supports Messiah College faculty as an instructional designer. During the past year, she has been particularly committed to promoting Universal Design for Learning (UDL) across the College. This has included developing faculty trainings and presenting Messiah’s UDL work at various conferences in the region.
