Mechanical Engineering
Chris joined Messiah University in Spring 2024 as an adjunct lecturer and transitioned to senior lecturer for Fall 2024. Immediately prior, he had a short career as an automotive technician after serving 28 years in the U.S. Army as an engineer officer.
A licensed professional engineer, Chris worked in various Army engineer units, eventually leading very large organizations with missions spanning: coastal engineering, dredging, high-voltage power transmission, in addition to all manner of horizontal and vertical construction. He gained invaluable experience from serving as federal representative on the Delaware River Basin Commission and living outside the US in South Korea, Afghanistan, Belgium, Germany, and Uruguay.
Prof. Becking and his wife, Sarah, have moved 13 times in their marriage, but now call Mechanicsburg home. They are the proud parents of two daughters, Katherine and Rachel. When not cycling with Sarah, working in their garden, skiing with the whole family, or serving at their church, Chris also enjoys triathlons, cyclocross, and fixing cars.
