Dr. Krista Kirk completed her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Liberty University in 2018 and has since taught in online and hybrid CACREP-accredited masters and doctoral counselor education programs. She is a nationally certified counselor, an approved clinical supervisor, a board-certified tele-mental health provider, and a licensed mental health counselor in the state of NY. In the counseling and counselor education fields, she served in several leadership positions, including being a member of the ACA-NY board, a chapter faculty advisor for Chi Sigma Iota Rho Eta Nu Alpha Rho, and a recipient of an Association for Counselor Education and Supervision research grant for her team’s work on gatekeeping and psychological safety in counselor education. Dr. Kirk publishes her work in the areas of gatekeeping and psychological safety in counselor education, mental illness stigma in religious communities, and multicultural responsiveness within the counseling profession. In addition to being a professor, Dr. Kirk runs a counseling private practice in the NYC metropolitan area, where she seeks to meet the needs of under-served populations. She is married to her favorite person, Rob, who pastors a church in New York, where they are also raising their two children.
