Profile

I really enjoy discussing Spanish literature and culture with Messiah University students!
In the area of Latin American literature, I have published several articles on Nicaraguan novelist Sergio Ramírez and the New Historical Novel.

I am very interested in contemporary Hispanic achievement and some of my courses include a unit on honoring Hispanic Heroes. I have also presented on Mexican American activist César Chávez.
Before returning to academia, I worked for several years as a medical interpreter for Spanish speaking patients, as a caseworker for HIV positive Latinos and as an advocate for migrant farmworkers.
