I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to attend Messiah College for my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. Throughout my courses at Messiah College, the faculty and staff encouraged me to think about my own philosophies and pushed me past my comfort level to truly experience deep educational growth. Through this process, I developed a lifelong love of learning and this has empowered me to take others through this same journey.
The experiences I had at Messiah College prepared me to enter the educational field. I received a professional contract prior to graduating and started in a third grade classroom for the Carlisle Area School District. I quickly learned that my degree from Messiah College set me apart from other candidates.
After teaching for three years and moving into an instructional coaching role for two additional years, I was ready for a new challenge. I had the wonderful opportunity of accepting the principal position in a title one school for the Carlisle Area School District. I am currently in my 6th year as an administrator for this building, and truly enjoy the challenges that come with working in a title one school.
Now that I have moved into a hiring role, Messiah College still is one of the first places I look for future teachers. The quality of the Messiah College education far exceeds other educational institutions. We find Messiah graduates to be more prepared to tackle the challenges of the first years of teaching, and they come to us with a better understanding of the educational process.
I loved every moment while at Messiah College and left with stronger Christian faith, lifelong friendships, and prepared for life and the educational field.
