I got a job out of college working with older adults in supportive housing, then realized that wasn't for me. I have always thought about doing clinical work or therapy. When I saw a position at Callen Lorde, I saw it as a way to strengthen my skills as a social worker. I also enjoy working in the medical field and I enjoy the outpatient setting vs. a hospital. I [currently] provide psychotherapy to LGBTQ folks in an outpatient primary care setting for up to 6 months.
Messiah prepared me for the ASWB exam by teaching core concepts related to the profession, including competence, professionalism, and ethics. Messiah gave me a foundation of interpersonal skills that enabled me to work effectively with people.
