Emily Ruby is a 2002 alumna who majored in History with an English Literature minor. After graduation she spent two years in the AmeriCorps working in an environmental remediation site and local historical museum before pursuing her postgraduate degree from the University of Delaware in the Hagley program. She is currently working at the Senator John Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania as a curator. She has worked there for 15 years, using skills like research, writing, and critical thinking that she learned as a history major here at Messiah University. Her work is driven by her love for hearing people’s stories and getting to honor their family legacies which are deeply personal to them and allowing their stories to be shared to a larger community. She is grateful for how Messiah prepared her academically and supported her post-graduation. She thanks Professor Huffman for helping her find her graduate school program and helped her connect with a fellow Messiah alum who was also in the program. She said she knew she could always call for advice or guidance from her Messiah professors and is thankful for her undergraduate time here.
