Ted Sindabizera Ntwari, a 2018 graduate from Messiah with a specialization in Environmental Engineering, further broadened his academic horizons by pursuing master's degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech. Currently, Ted holds the position of Software Product Manager at Fracta. He spearheads the development of machine learning-based software that monitors the condition and predicts potential risks associated with drinking water distribution mains throughout the United States. This predictive tool aims to avert major infrastructural catastrophes, such as pipeline bursts and subsequent flooding. As the leader of the product team at Fracta, Ted's role entails the coordination of product road mapping in addition to setting and executing the annual product portfolio. The aspect of his work that he finds most fulfilling is the challenge of achieving product-market fit and accompanying clients through the journey until the delivery of a satisfactory product.
Ted came to Messiah as a transfer student looking to enroll at a Christian school. Choosing to pursue a degree in Engineering was a perfect fit for his skill set and he chose to focus on Environmental Engineering because he was drawn to the way it would allow him to incorporate his interests in chemistry and biology. He shared that it was a blessing to be part of the Collaboratory where he was part of a team focused on assembling a bio-filtration system designed to provide city water disinfection for schools in Honduras, Mexico, and Pakistan. Ted appreciates the way his work with the Collaboratory set him up well for internships and helped him prepare for his career through learning to consider multiple demands of clients.
In reflecting on the relationships built at Messiah, Ted shared that the faith-centered friendships formed while on campus continue to be a valuable part of his life. Ted also remains connected to his professors in the Engineering Department and looks to them as role models. He appreciates the example of what it looks like to be servants in the profession and seeks to emulate the way they integrate faith into career.
