A career member of the Foreign Service, George joined the US Department of State in 1997. He has worked primarily on transatlantic relations throughout his career, with a focus on economic issues and energy policy. He is currently serving as Deputy Minister Counselor for Economic Affairs at the US Embassy in Seoul, South Korea. Other recent assignments include Counselor for Global Affairs at the US Embassy in Berlin, Germany; interim Chargé d Affairs at the US Embassy in Minsk, Belarus; the Transatlantic Diplomacy Fellow at the German Foreign Ministry, Berlin, Germany; Senior Energy Officer at the US Embassy in Moscow, Russia; and Deputy Political/Economic Counselor at the US Embassy in Oslo, Norway. He has also served in Istanbul, Turkey, and in Washington, D.C. on the Russia and Nordic/Baltic desks. In addition to his degree in history and political science from Messiah, George holds a master’s degree in international relations from Boston University. He and his wife have three children.
