APPLY TO MESSIAH

Safety & Security / Fire Safety

Out of sincere concern for student and employee safety and to be in compliance with federal regulations, Messiah University is required to:

  1. notify students and employees (via a Campus Timely Warning Notice) if a crime that could pose a continuing threat to campus has been reported, and
  2. publish an annual University Security and Fire Safety Report.

Campus Timely Warning Notices will be clearly marked and will most often be sent via the University’s text message alert system (sign up on ); mass email to your college email address; the University’s emergency blog (); University websites; residence hall announcements;  and public postings. Also, the University uses Safe*Connect software, which enables the interruption of most computers on the University's network with a pop-up screen that will alert the campus to an emergency situation and provide further instruction. Notices will include information about any additional safety precautions you should take.

The annual University Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety and includes such topics as crime prevention programs; Department of Safety law enforcement authority; crime and emergency reporting policies; access to University residences; sexual assault prevention; timely warnings of emergencies; disciplinary procedures; and other matters of importance related to security and safety on campus. Messiah's crime statistics for the three previous calendar years are contained in this report. The report also outlines campus fire safety practices, standards, and certain fire-related, on-campus housing statistics. This report can be found on the Department of Safety website or a paper copy can be obtained by calling ext. 6005 or upon request at the Dispatch Office in the Eisenhower Campus Center.  Information on how to report a crime, including the link to report anonymously can also be found at the Department of Safety website.

For emergency situations, please contact Campus Safety at ext. 6565 or dial 911
