Joseph Lorgunpai ’19

Eight years younger than his brother Jonathan ’11, accounting major Joseph Lorgunpai ’19 discussed their special bond as siblings.

“Jonathan has always been a caring brother,” said Joseph. “I've always said he was my third parent. Initially, my parents wanted only one child, but Jonathan wanted a younger sibling. So he promised my parents that he will help them take care of me. He made good on his promise.”

As the brothers grew, so did the promise. “Throughout my time in elementary, he took care of me,” said Joseph. “Whether it be transportation home, homework, sports and devotions, he dedicated a large chunk of his time for me. Even when he was at Messiah, he would still call back home consistently and made sure we weren't out of touch.”

The elder brother also influenced Joseph’s choice to attend Messiah College. “He was always enthusiastic about this campus' culture … because the professors have a great relationship with their students,” said Joseph.

Both brothers will be hard at work during the next year. Jonathan starts a fellowship at Harvard in July, and Joseph will begin his senior year at Messiah in the fall.
