9.3 Intercultural Perspectives - Global

Intercultural perspectives-global includes one three-credit course or one three-credit international cross-cultural course.

  • Requirements: One three-credit interdisciplinary Intercultural Perspectives-Global course focusing on diversity in a global context.
  • Level: 300
  • Sequence: Recommended for any semester after the first year.
  • Course Proposal: One course appropriate to the course learning objectives and level designation is proposed by faculty with expertise in cultural intelligence in a global context, approved by General Education Committee and Curriculum Committee, and reported to the Community of Educators for information and review. 

Intercultural Perspectives-Global Course Objectives

By the completion of the course students will demonstrate the ability to:

  1. Articulate awareness of one’s own cultural identity and biases. (Inclusive Excellence)
  2. Describe elements of culture different from one’s own in relation to its history, values, politics, communication styles, economy, beliefs, and practices, evaluating similarities and differences. (Inclusive Excellence)
  3. Ask complex questions about cultures, seeking out and articulating answers that reflect multiple cultural perspectives. (Inclusive Excellence)
