®: A Smarter Way to Eat
By: Livia Ungurean
It is impossible to eat healthy in college, right? Not so fast. It may be a common misunderstanding, but Messiah College offers a program designed to assist students with choosing healthy options and learn about nutritional data. Launched in early 2017, ® offers students many benefits that allow them to:
-
View daily menus from campus dining locations like Lottie Nelson, The Falcon, and Union Café
-
Identify and select well-balanced meals
-
View the nutritional content and ingredients of food selections
-
Filter out foods containing specific allergens and/or intolerances
To try the ® program go .
To ensure dietary safety, Messiah College Dining Services takes precaution to check ingredient information and ensure that cross contact of ingredients does not occur. To filter out food allergens or intolerances, simply check the box(es) on the left next to the food allergens you wish to avoid. Items containing these allergens will be deleted from the menu choices.
Messiah College Dining Services continues to work on uploading all nutrition information online. Many of our Culinary Staff are also certified in AllerTrain™ and have special training in food allergies. As each recipe and ingredient must be individually analyzed, some options may not be available online. Dining Services is also working on more preferences in addition to vegan, vegetation and Falcon Fit. ® offers students the ease of making healthy choices based on their individual needs—from allergens to preferences, it is a convenient tool when planning meals.
Fun fact: ® was used at the Sochi Olympics in the Olympic Village for the athletes!
The Messiah College Dining Services provides great options for students to eat a healthy, balanced meal. Students are encouraged to contact Dining Services for further assistant by emailing dining@messiah.edu or stop by the Dining Services Office located next to Lottie Nelson Dining Hall. Our Dining Services team will be happy to assist you!
