Tips on Filling out an RCI

Circle the conditions that apply

Make detailed notes

Beds:

  • Record deep scratches, chips, writing on furniture, etc.
  • Look for bends in the frame
  • Check for broken springs
  • Flip over mattress and look for stains, tears, and holes

Dresser:

  • Pull away from the wall to look for damage on the back
  • Record scratches, chips, marks, etc.
  • Pull each drawer out and look for damage on the inside
  • Record if drawers don’t open, or if they stick
  • Look for strips of missing wood

Ceiling:

  • Record missing pieces, broken tiles, and markings

Floor:

  • Mark where damages are in the box in the bottom right corner
  • Look for stains, burns, tears, holes etc.

Windows/Screen:

  • Make note of missing screens
  • Look for tears, holes, and burns in the screens
  • Record bent or cracked screens
  • Check for cracked or chipped windows
  • Make sure the windows are able to open
  • Test the shades to see if they work

Closet:

  • Check both sides of the door for scratches, marks, and chips etc.
  • Make sure the doors open and close
  • Check the inside for stains and other markings
  • Insure that the wood at the bottom is not pulling away from the wall
  • Test the bar
  • Inspect the top shelves for damage

 

Desk:

  • Pull it away from the wall to look at all sides
  • Open up all of the drawers and record any that are broken
  • Record damage that is on the inside and outside of the desk

Desk Chair:

  • Record any stains, tears, holes, burns, chips, or markings etc.

Door:

  • Look at the front and back, and note any damage that is found

Mirror:

  • Write down any damage found on any of the mirrors in the room (inside closets, on walls, and on the back of the doors)

Towel Bar:

  • Tug on the bar to make sure it is secure and in place
  • Record any damage that is found

Bookshelves:

  • Look over each shelf, the sides, and underneath the bookcase for any damage like tape residue, chips, cracked shelves, scratches, holes, peeled paint etc.

Dartboard:

  • Write detailed notes on the types of markings that are on the dartboards
  • Record any other damage that is found

Emergency Posters:

  • Make sure there is an active shooter poster and a fire safety poster in each room

Accustat/A.C.:

  • Check the cover to insure that it is not broken or missing

Outlets:

  • Look for scratches along the electrical panel
  • Make sure outlets are intact and not hanging out of the wall
  • Record scratches, holes, and loose outlets

 

Smoke Detectors:

  • Make sure they are not broken or damaged

Walls:

  • Look at each wall and behind the furniture, and record markings or damage
  • The door is along wall A
