Graduate Assistant, Graduate Progams (Messiah University campus)

Position Title: Graduate Assistant , Graduate and Professional Studies                

Department:     School of Graduate and Professional Studies Administration

Position Summary:   Under the supervision of the dean, the GA will provide support for graduate student recruitment, retention, and experience. This is a two year, 20 hours/week, appointment not to exceed 800 hours/year.  Commitment runs from August 4th – May 28th each of the two years.

Education Required:  Bachelor's degree required; current enrollment in one of the degrees within the graduate program in Higher Education Leadership at Messiah University.

Experience Required:  Experience with student programming, professional social media use, and/or event planning is preferred.

  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent service to others
  • Christian faith commitment required

Special Working Conditions:  Occasional weekend and evening work as priorities demand.

Primary Duties:

1.

Contribute to marketing efforts to recruit and retain graduate students across all SGPS programs.

2.

Work collaboratively with faculty, program directors, and administrative assistants to promote SGPS programs.

3.

Participate in graduate student orientation as requested.

4.

Lead efforts related to monthly newsletter, social media, and other promotional work in SGPS.

5.

Research trends, collect data, and/or benchmark programs to provide input into recruitment and retention efforts.

6.

Provide support for special projects with the Administrative team in SGPS.

7.

Collaborate with the Coordinator for Graduate Student Services to provide support for graduate students.

8.

Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.

Secondary Duties:

Participate as appropriate in SGPS Leadership Team events.

Other duties as assigned.
