What were you processing as you came to Messiah?

I came to Messiah with a major declared, but quickly found out that I did not enjoy the content. Within a month of starting classes, I decided to be undeclared. This was a stressful time for me because the plan I thought I had was gone and I felt like I was starting over.

What resources/help did you receive from Messiah to choose a major?

The resources that helped me the most were talking to the career counselors in the Career and Professional Development Center. They walked me through some exercises and worksheets that helped me to narrow down what I was the most interested in studying.

Why did you choose the major you did?

The business major and classes interested me the most and it also lined up with my strengths. I decided for sure on my major after taking some introductory classes in the major and enjoying them.

What do you hope to do after graduation?

After graduation, I hope to get a job as either a payroll technician or an administrative assistant. Eventually, I hope to continue my education and earn my MBA.

What did you learn through the process – about yourself or about finding a good major fit?

I learned that it is okay to take your time and to be unsure. I was very nervous about not having a major declared because it felt like I had no direction, but it was a great learning experience and through it, I found a major that is a good fit for me.
