When to get professional help with grief
Grief does not always improve with time. It is possible that you may not able to accept the loss, or grief is layered by depression or even suicidal thoughts. This is referred to as “complicated grief.” If you have any of the following symptoms, consult a professional counselor or doctor. (DerSarkissian, 2020)
- Feeling depressed.
- Impossible to forgive yourself.
- Challenges in keeping your daily routine, like going to work or cleaning the house etc.
- Thoughts that life is not worth living anymore, or thoughts of harming yourself.
